Do you love movies?

Often, people of my age tell me... "I love movies! My favourites are "Shutter Island", "The Fight Club", and "Inception". They really make me think..."

Oh... my dear friend... you don't love movies, you're just a pseudo-intellectual...

You like a movie when you enjoy watching it, not when it makes you feel smart or when everyone says it is a good movie, or when it seems to be artistic or weird and you pretend to understand it.

You love movies when you dream off being at Rick's Cafe in "Casablanca"

You love movies when you get goosebumps every time you see Paul Newman playing pool in "The Hustler"

You love movies when you can't stop laughing at Jack Lemmon in "Some Like it Hot"

You love movies when you see Henry Fonda walking in a John Ford movie

You love movies when you see the broken Mirror in "The Apartment"

You love movies when you see a beautiful transition in "Lawrence of Arabia"

You love movies when you see Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck walking around Rome

You love movies when you watch Charles Laughton's performance in "Witness for the Prosecution"

You love movies when you watch "Bicycle Thieves" for the first time

You love movies when you feel like you are in India watching the Apu trilogy

You love movies when you see James Stewart spying on his neighbours in "Rear Window"

You love movies when Yves Montand drives too fast in "The Wages of Fear"

You love movies when you watch that shower scene in "Psycho"

You love movies when you feel like water is all over you in the kiss scene in "From Here to Eternity"

You love movies when you want to travel to Vienna after watching "Letter from an Unknown Woman" or "The Third Man"

You love movies when you cry after what happens to Spencer Tracy in "Captain Courageous"

You love movies when Clark Gable tries to make a car stop in "It Happened One Night"

You love movies when you get the "Lubitsch Touch"

You love movies when Barbara Stanwyck is looking at the mirror in "The Lady Eve"

You love movies when you see Greta Garbo laugh in "Ninotchka"

You love movies when Cary Grant is trying to survive an airplane attack

...

So please let's live life by doing something because we love it, and not because we want to show off, or feel/pretend we are smarter than the rest.
